In our day and time, it is easy to feel defeated. Your to-do lists get longer and your days get shorter.
And if you ever take a break from the busyness of your own life, you remember why you didn’t want to look up in the first place. After all, it is tiresome enough to fight your own battle! The last thing we have time for is worrying about another one.
But…
What if we looked at our battles with fresh eyes?
What if we saw them in the context of the entire war?
Jesus speaks to His disciples who find themselves exhausted in their own fight of faith. He speaks to His troubled followers and says:
“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” John 16:33.
In seasons of defeat, we hold fast to our secure hope in Christ. What a breath of fresh air! As we face our own daily battles, we have eternal hope in knowing that the victory of the war has been won! Do not be deceived by the troubles of today, Jesus has already overcome the world.
May we find comfort not in the win or loss of today, but in the ultimate victory of Jesus that goes before and behind us in all things.
Take heart, beloved.
